Marco Ronquillo is a Salvadoran bassist whose journey is defined by a relentless pursuit of musical excellence. Born in 1994, Marco became the first musician in his family, challenging traditional cultural expectations to follow his craft.
His career began at age 13 in the churches of El Salvador, where he developed the versatility and "ear" that would become his trademark. By 18, fueled by passion rather than formal training, he was already performing at the El Salvador Jazz Festival and appearing in the country’s most prestigious venues. This early success gave him the courage to make a pivotal life change: leaving his studies in Chemical Engineering to pursue music at the highest level.
In 2020, amidst the global pandemic, Marco’s dedication was recognized by Berklee College of Music, which awarded him a Full Tuition Scholarship. Moving to Boston in 2021, he quickly established himself as one of the community's most sought-after bassists. Today, as a Berklee alumnus, Marco continues to be a staple of the Boston music scene, performing across genres with a wide array of elite artists and projects. Recently recorded Alfareros last album “Oveja de Tu Prado” sharing credits with world-class drummer Vinnie Colaiuta.
A player who values tone and reliability, Marco proudly endorses Sadowsky Basses, Elixir Strings, Mono Cases, and Rattlesnake Cables.
